A portrait of a lady with red nails, a floppy hat and wearing a striped blouse, an oil on canvas signed on the reverse Mr Wessel, circa 1940. Herman Henry Wessel, 1878–1969, was a prominent artist and teacher from Cincinnati, Ohio. He studied with Frank Duveneck at the Cincinnati Art Academy and in Europe at the Royal Academy in Munich and at the Acadamies Julian and Colarossi in Paris. It measures 30 by 25 inches sight.
