Ash Handled Burl Bowl, Circa 1800- Price Upon Request
Ash Handled Burl Bowl c: 1800 Probably New England, although closely related bowls originated in New York State as well. Handle and bowl are one... made from the same piece of wood with no seam. The molded handle is arched with a scalloped terminus resembling a turtle head. The rim of the bowl is bevelled; its concave base has a flat bottom. A tight closed fissure in the bottom was probably caused by adding hot stones to heat liquid. Extremely rare, outstanding and beautiful! Dimensions: H - 7" L - 20.5" Bowl diameter – 12.25".
