A rare stuffed white work bed cover, American, New England, probably Massachusetts, circa 1800. An extraordinary work of art constructed of three panels and depicting a footed bowl with scalloped quilting, containing an arrangement of exotic flowers and surrounded by a wide meandering floral border. This spread is in two layers, a fine cotton for the face and a coarser muslin for the back. It measures 94½ by 101 inches.
