Gus Wilson (Attr.) Large White-Wing Scoter- Price Upon Request
A large white-wing scoter, American, attributed to Augustus Aaron “Gus Wilson” (1864–1950), South Portland, Maine, circa 1920. Evident in this scoter is Wilson’s sleek and streamlined look. He created this bird using many of his signature characteristics: a flat bottom, carved eyes, inletted head and raised carved wings. A powerful form with a great presence. The width is 24½ inches by 9½ inches high by 11 inches deep. Exhibited: The Wendell Gilley Museum, Southwest Harbor, Maine. Ex collection: Margaret Scott Carter.
