The New Hampshire Antiques Show 2019
New England Chippendale Highchest- Price Upon Request
Coastal Massachusetts or New Hampshire C. 1750-1760. Few highchests survive in original condition, but this fine example defied the odds, retaining its original well-worn surface, original brasses and original wooden drops. The chest is also beautifully proportioned, having graceful legs terminating in bold, claw and ball feet and a generous cornice, which expertly conceals a cornice drawer. A nearly identical example is pictured in Sack’s American Antiques – Volume 1, plate no. 208. Height – 5 ft. 11 in. Width – 37 ¾ in. (lower case) Depth – 19 in. (lower case).
