WEST ROXBURY, MASS. — Anthony J. “Tony” Fusco, aged 73, passed away suddenly in his home in West Roxbury on November 22, 2024. He was born March 13, 1951, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Anthony and Josephine (née Dottore) Fusco. He is survived by husband Robert Four; sisters Joyce Beach of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; Catherine Young of Eastlake, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters Lenora Lorenz and Roseann Philips and his brother, Paul Fusco.
A graduate of Bowling Green University, he received his master’s degree at Boston University in Twentieth Century French Literature. After spending two years living and teaching abroad in France in Paris and Tours, he settled in Boston, making it his home for the past 50 years.
Tony was director of Fusco & Four, a marketing and public relations agency specializing in the arts, co-founded with Robert Four in 1979. Fusco and Four also produced large-scale public art and design events such as the Boston International Fine Art Show for 24 years and Boston Design Week for the past 11 years. He was the author of five books on Art Deco and vintage posters, and he contributed articles to more than 50 periodicals such as Boston Magazine, Yankee Magazine and others. He served as a US State Department escort-interpreter and was a member of the American Federation of Radio and Television Actors (AFTRA) and the Screen Actors Guild (SAG, now SAG-AFTRA) since 1974. He served as facilitator for the International Coalition of Art Deco Societies (ICADS) for seven years and was an organizer for numerous World Congress on Art Deco events in the US and abroad. As co-producer of Boston Design Week, he served as a representative to World Design Weeks.
He and Robert shared 47 years together and were legally married 20 years ago in Massachusetts. They traveled extensively, enjoying the wonders of our world from South Africa to Europe, the Mediterranean and Egypt. Most of all, Tony was a poet at heart and produced three books of collected poems. He was a sensitive man of many talents, with a passion for life and a love of his fellow human beings. He was admired by many, and dearly loved by his family, friends and family of choice.
