COLUMBUS, OHIO — Elegantly simple and with good provenance were the keys to the Pennsylvania folk art paint-decorated wall box that achieved top-lot status at Amelia Jeffers’ March Great Estates Auction, March 19-20. Selling early on during the first day’s session, the late Nineteenth-early Twentieth Century box achieved $17,200, including buyer’s premium ($300/600). The box, retaining its original mustard-yellow paint with green, red and white floral decoration, had formerly passed through the hands of Maine antiques dealers Jim and Nancy Glazer. A complete report on this auction will appear in an upcoming edition.
