Daguerreotype by John Plumbe of a lovely, smiling portrait identified as “Mrs Thomas Chester, Hartford, Conn.” in old note. Esther Margaret Bull (1776-1844) wed Thomas Chester (1764-1831) in 1795. The original painting is unlocated. Another portrait of her is attributed to Ezra Ames. This daguerreotype, circa 1844, marked “Plumbe” in the brass mat, is housed in its original case.
