Dorothy S. Justinius died on July 10, after a short illness. Born on July 16, 1918, in Bridgeport, Conn., to Thor and Wilhamina Skoog, Dorothy was a lifelong resident of Fairfield.
Dorothy proudly served in the US Navy as a WAVE during World War II, when she was stationed in Washington, D.C. She was an active member and supporter of First Church Congregational and the Scandinavian Club, both of Fairfield.
Dorothy, however, is best remembered for her career in the antiques business. With her husband, Ivan, she became a respected antiques dealer and show manager. They owned and operated antique shops in Fairfield center and in Southport, Conn., and managed antiques shows at the Norwalk Armory, and on Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket Islands. For many years they also ran the Memorial Day Antiques Show at First Church Congregational, for the benefit of the Tiffany Windows.
Dorothy was a member of the Connecticut Antiques Dealers Association, which was co-founded by her husband, Ivan.
Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Dr Ivan Justinius, a son, Douglas Justinius, and a brother and sister. Survivors include two sons, Peter Justinius of Naples, Fla., and Kurt Justinius of Southport; a granddaughter, Korin Justinius of Southport; and a brother, Billie Skoog, of Trumbull, Conn.; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at First Church Congregational, 148 Beach Road, Fairfield, Conn., at 11 am on Saturday, July 21.
