CAMBRIDGE, MASS. — A Massachusetts Chippendale block-front mahogany chest rose to the top during CRN Auctions’ Annual Spring Auction on April 19. The circa 1760 chest was from the estate of a Hartford, Conn., collector who purchased the chest in the mid 1990s from Albert Sack. With four conforming graduated drawers having original silvered brass, the chest measured 33 inches wide with a 37½-inch top. It was taken past its $20/28,000 estimate to achieve the sale’s high price of $34,440, including buyer’s premium. A future issue will feature a more complete review of the sale.
