
DETROIT — Flying to top-lot status in DuMouchelles’ April 16-17 auction was an early cast of Marshall Maynard Fredericks’ (American, 1908-1998) bronze “Flying Wild Geese,” which soared past its $15/30,000 estimate to attain $62,000, including buyer’s premium, from an online bidder. Including its integral black marble plinth, the sculpture stood 14 inches tall and was 8½ inches at its widest The circa 1960-70 work, noted for its high level of naturalism and warm patina, was one of four sculptures by the artist crossing the block on the second day of the sale.
