The Largest Collection of Charles Fredrick Worth & Maison Worth garments ever offered at auction!
This season’s two-day auction will feature institutional property from The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of the City of New York, The Indianapolis Museum of Art, Fashion Institute
of Technology (FIT), a Southern Institution, a California Museum, Shippensburg State University, The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), The Valley Forge
Historical Society, other local historical societies, institutions, private collectors and estates.
We strongly encourage prospective buyers, textile historians and historical costume lovers to attend both auction days. There will be a tremendous volume of exciting costume from all periods on both days. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to add an important designer piece to your private or institutional collection. There will be several Charles Worth gowns offered on Friday that will not be photographed or available online. The property being offered from the MET & MCNY is a costume time capsule of America’s Gilded Age. It is the best of the best, and in some cases will include not only the museum provenance but the donor provenance as well, including the Astor and J.P. Morgan families. There will be fabulous beadwork, trim and lace to be harvested from some pieces not in the best condition. There will be something for every collector at every price level. Please plan to attend, if only to see how the real 1% dressed.
Additionally the “Uncataloged or Discovery Sale” will be at the conclusion of the catalog sale on FRI-DAY not Saturday as in the past. The Friday sale will NOT be available for online bidding.
