“Village Welcoming The Rabbi” by Tully Filmus (American, 1903-1998), oil on canvas, 61 by 47 inches framed, earned the highest price of the sale at $22,140 ($3/6,000).
EAST MEADOW, N.Y. — On January 14, World Auction Gallery conducted its Exceptional Fine Art & Antiques Auction. With just under 400 lots of art and antiques including a large collection of rare Lalique limited edition items, a vast assortment of sterling silver Judaica items, paintings, bronzes, antiques from various countries and more, the auction was packed with items that attracted all types of bidders — from established collectors to first-time auction buyers.
With a great deal of interest on a variety of lots, there were several in-person, phone and absentee bidders — in addition to the thousands of online bidders that also registered. The majority of lots came from various estates without reserves allowing customers to find something at every price point.
The real star of the show was the large collection of rare, limited edition Lalique items. “We were very pleased with the performance of this collection and are happy that each vase will be going to a new home,” World Auction Gallery’s owner, Ben Nejat, expressed.

This Lalique France blue glass Imperial Dragon vase, 14 inches tall by 12½ inches wide, led a selection of limited edition Lalique items at $9,100 ($3/6,000).
A “monumental” and limited edition Lalique France frosted and carved blue glass Imperial Dragon vase was the highest selling of the collection, with a realized price of $9,100. The runner-up was a limited edition Tianlong molded and hand-carved vase, which realized $7,150.
Leading the sale was an oil on canvas painting titled “Village Welcoming The Rabbi” by Tully Filmus (American, 1903-1998), which came from a Long Island, N.Y., home. It sold for $22,140.
Additionally, a category that attracted many bidders due to its high-valued lots was Meissen porcelain. Early Meissen porcelain figures titled “Allegory of Asia” and “Allegory of Africa” earned the second- and third-highest prices of the day. Both items sold separately for $9,750, greatly exceeding their $1/2,000 estimate.

This Meissen porcelain figure, titled “Allegory of Asia,” mid Nineteenth Century or earlier, 10 inches long by 12 inches tall by 5½ inches wide, sold for $9,750 ($1/2,000).
“Overall, we were very happy with the outcome of our January 14 auction. We had a lot of interest across the board and are already looking forward to our next sale. We are always looking to consign or outright purchase fine art and antiques,” Nejat concluded.
World Auction Gallery’s next auction will be held on Wednesday, February 18. Prices quoted include buyer’s premium as reported by the auction house. For information, 516-307-8180 or www.worldauctiongallery.com.
