China Trade carved, gilt and paint decorated eagle wall plaque featuring a banner inscribed "E Pluribus Unum" and American flags above a gilt eagle, and with an American shield and canon with cannon balls below. China, 1865 - 1885. Fruitwood with polychrome paint and gold leaf. Inscribed on the reverse with a history of ownership by Captain William Blethen (1818-1905) and his son Captain Galen Blethen (1847-1924) of Bath, Maine.
