English Georgian secretary desk, c. 1770-1800, mahogany primary and oak secondary, upper case crowned with broken arch pediment and applied cornice top over two glazed doors opening to reveal inner shelves and row of vertical pigeonholes, upper case measures 39 7/8" h. x 44 ¾" w. x 15" d., slant lid desk opens to reveal red felt writing surface, eight vertical pigeonholes, and seven short and long drawers, bottom right drawer fitted as miniature writing desk with compartments for ink wells, above four long drawers of graduated size with beaded drawer fronts and open brass batwing escutcheons, reinforced bracket base, lower case measures: 41 ¼" h. x 40 ¼" w. x 23 ½" d., expected wear including scratches, isolated minor veneer loss, and past insect damage, assembled measures approximately 80" h.
