David Wood, Massachusetts Federal cherry inlaid tall case clock, c. 1800-1815, Newburyport, Massachusetts, hood with pierced fret, reeded finial plinths and finials above an arched, glazed and checkered inlaid hood door flanked by reeded columns and enclosing a painted iron dial with Roman numerals, raised gilded gesso in the spandrels, stylized bouquet in the arch and signed "David Wood, Newburyport", the rectangular waist door with molded edge and checkered inlay surrounding an inlaid oval is flanked by reeded columns all on a inlaid base also with oval with flaring French feet and scalloped apron housing an eight-day brass time and strike movement; condition: strike work lifting piece loose but present, time and strike work with finger pressure, movement and saddleboard appear original to case, dial mounted by cast intermediate plate with name "Wilson", pendulum and one weight present (one missing), case refinished, minor repairs to waist door, proper right side case to hood support molding possible replacement, proper right fret possible replacement, etc.; 84" h.
