MAP: Georg Matthäus Seutter (German, 1678 - 1757), "Accurata delineatio celeberrimar Regionis Ludovicianae vel Gallice Louisiane ol. Canadea et Floridae" or "Mississippi Bubble Map", c. 1720, hand-colored engraved map, depicts North America with an emphasis on the Gulf of Mexico region, decorative cartouche at right illustrates the Mississippi Bubble financial crisis, at left cherubs prepare and sell company shares to buyers falling out of trees to get them with a fountain of wealth above, to right a group of destitute men plead with the cherubs and contemplate suicide, wear consistent with age and use including toning, waving of paper, light scattered foxing, 1 3/4" separated crease at bottom, several small tears mostly to border, scattered shattering/ holes, trimmed close, etc., framed and matted under glass, not examined out of frame, ss: 19 1/4" h. x 22 3/8" w., frame size: 22" h. x 25" w.
